Among other things contemporary pedagogical community also includes a diverse and variegated language of pictures, images and colours. These are often signals of multiple meanings. Knowledge of the influence of visual information enables the educators to warn their mentees or to increase interest in them. For ages mankind has actually been using the quick, clear, and often multilayered visual language to pass information
An example of such language during the Middle Ages was biblia pauperum or the Bible for the poor, i.e. pictographs on the walls of churches, monasteries and chapels. These pictures, accompanied by narratives, formed a powerful flow of information that modelled religion, morality, traditions, taboos and everyday life as well. This was a constant narrative that educated the people during the Middle Ages. Biblia pauperum fused into folklore, poetry, literature, art; it taught people how to behave, reminded them of the Ten Commandments, taught fear and joy. It was a multilayered and interesting textbook of the Middle Ages. Resulting from that it can be said that a man of the Middle Ages, despite not attending school and being illiterate, was yet properly educated in accordance to the needs of those times. Even more, learning actually lasted throughout life. </style>
<work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">148-155</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Maria Tilk</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">NARRATIVE IN HISTORY OF EDUCATION</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century </style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">history of education</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">narrative approach</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2008</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">June/2008</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">http://oaji.net/articles/2014/457-1392235931.pdf</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">7</style></volume><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">The narrative approach to research of educational problems, issues in historical context gives, from one side, many additional possibilities to enliven and concretise different educational situations in time-space. From another side this approach enriches general characteristics in philosophy and history of education.
In current paper narrative analysis is applied to most distant, prehistoric period of existence of human being. This was the stage when mythological view and understanding of a world appeared, developed and took its course with beginnings of all its tabus and rights and laws, obligatory initiation, authority and responsibility of knowers-teachers-schamans. At this period attention was payd to three obligatory moments at human`s life-arc – birth, creation of new life together with sexual education and marriage rituals, and death.
Narrative approach allows to see iand inderstand in history of education the wide spectrum of educational aspects what co-exist in fullness and wholeness of myth like philosophies, history, poetics, ethics, epical literature, art, education and rituals.
Every aspect blends into the wholeness of being, existence what draws on mythical thinking. Many of educational understandings have reached us from this far-away period and there are much more of them than we usually suppose to think.
The special attention in paper will be on key words like sign, gesture, word, dance, ritual what play an important role in educational narrative as well.</style>
<work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">200-212</style></section></record></records></xml>
