Thirty peer-reviewed articles were analysed to examine (i) the types of AI technologies implemented in mathematics education, (ii) evidence on the effectiveness of AI interventions in improving learning, (iii) the benefits and limitations of AI in special education, (iv) comparisons of AI applications with traditional methods in terms of personalisation, engagement, and accessibility, and (v) applications of AI in supporting specific disabilities. The findings indicated that intelligent games, chatbots, personalised learning systems, and intelligent tutoring systems were the most frequently utilised AI-powered tools. All studies assessing effectiveness reported positive impacts on mathematical achievement, as well as benefits such as reduced mathematics anxiety, increased motivation, and enhanced independence among learners. Reported challenges included high costs, ethical concerns, teacher preparedness, and a digital divide limiting equitable access. Compared to traditional methods, AI offers more accurate diagnosis of learning difficulties, greater opportunities for personalised learning, and increased accessibility. AI showed promise in addressing specific disabilities such as dyscalculia and autism through adaptive and diagnostic tools. The review concluded that AI should be viewed as a complementary tool that extends teachers’ capacity to individualise mathematics instruction for students with SEN.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">6</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">786-806</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Givigi, R. This study aimed to analyze the situation of special education in Brazil and Canada during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research was part of a postdoctoral project in education. Methodologically, it is an international comparative study in education. It was carried out from April 2020 to November 2021, based on a literature review and official documents. The search was carried out in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and in the Institute of Educational Sciences (ERIC), and 233 articles were found. After analysis and following the inclusion criteria, 217 articles were excluded. In the end, 16 studies were selected. The results show that the more structured the educational system and Special Education, the greater the chances of success. In addition to returning to face-to-face classes earlier, Canada also provided more support for families and students, but it was still insufficient. In both countries, children with disabilities are in a fragile situation owing to social isolation. Aspects such as choice of tools, internet connection quality, user skills, virtual spaces for collective support, school and family communication, strengthening of special education policies and programs, adequate support, among others, led to the success of remote education. This research is intended to contribute to an increase in the number of studies in Brazil and abroad, serving as a basis for the scientific production of other international comparative studies.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">162-178</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Valentin Cosmin Blândul</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Adela Bradea</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">THE STATUS AND ROLE OF ICT IN THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS: A RESEARCH FROM BIHOR COUNTY, ROMANIA</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">ICT</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">special education</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">students with disabilities</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2016</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">June/2016</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">http://journals.indexcopernicus.com/abstract.php?icid=1210957</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">71</style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Discontinuous</style></pages><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">ICT plays a very important role in education, as, on the one hand, it improves the educational attainment of students and, on the other hand, it contributes to a better communication between the education agents, while also speeding up students' personal development. By using educational software adjusted to the specific nature of different types of disabilities, the benefits of ICT can be very well exploited in special education too. The impact can be a significant one, both in the therapeutic process and in the educational one, and the literature in the area has recorded several examples of successes achieved by students with disabilities assisted by ICT. In Romania, however, few studies have been conducted so far to assess the way ICT is used by teachers in their work with students having different types of disabilities. For that reason, the main aim of the present research was to identify to what extent pre-university teachers are open and prepared to use ICT applications in special education. The sample consisted of 105 pre-university teachers from Bihor, Romania. The instrument used was a questionnaire having 76 multiple choice items, and the implementation period was January-March 2016. The results show that even though they are aware of the importance and have a positive attitude towards using ICT in special education, the majority of the teachers included in the study feel that they are ill-prepared and want to deepen their knowledge in this field during their continued professional training. </style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">71</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">6-15</style></section></record></records></xml>
