Although research in this area has grown rapidly, the field still lacks a clear overview of its knowledge structure, major themes, and emerging directions. To address this gap, this study aims to map the knowledge structure, thematic patterns, and emerging directions of research on digital technologies in vocational education. It analyses 203 articles retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection for the period 2021–2025, following a PRISMA-guided screening procedure. Using VOSviewer and CiteSpace, the study conducted performance analysis, bibliographic coupling, keyword co-occurrence analysis, and burst detection to identify publication patterns, thematic clusters, and research frontiers. The findings reveal four major directions of inquiry: learner empowerment and sustainability, teacher digital competence, institutional innovation, and policy-oriented skill development in the context of Industry 4.0. Burst detection further suggests an emerging movement in research attention from technology-focused adoption toward more human-centred, pedagogical, and governance-related perspectives. Overall, the study contributes to the field by clarifying both the intellectual structure and the changing priorities of research on digital transformation in vocational education. It also advances current understanding by showing that digital transformation is increasingly framed not simply as technology adoption, but as a socio-technical process shaped by pedagogy, governance, inclusion, and ethical responsibility.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">3</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">525-541</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Bo Zhou</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Seong Pek Lim</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Nahdia Kabir</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Asna</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Tian Nan Lu</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">FROM AUTOMATION TO SOCIO-AFFECTIVE LEARNING: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">artificial Intelligence</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">bibliometric analysis</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">EFL</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">socio-affective learning</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2026</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">February/2026</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">https://journals.indexcopernicus.com/search/article?articleId=4771008</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">84</style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">continuous</style></pages><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a driving force in education. Within English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pedagogy, it is reconfiguring instructional approaches by linking automation with learner-centered and affective learning design. Nevertheless, empirical research remains fragmented across cognitive, affective, and social domains, necessitating a comprehensive approach. Drawing on data from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection (2021–2025), this study examines the bibliometric landscape of the field. Following PRISMA-based screening, 281 peer-reviewed publications were analyzed with VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results demonstrate a sharp rise in publications and a conceptual evolution from performance-driven to socio-affective perspectives. Co-citation analysis delineates three major research domains–conversational AI in pedagogy, AI-based assessment tools, and affective–motivational learning–while co-occurrence mapping identifies four thematic clusters: chatbots and emotions, generative AI and critical thinking, automated writing evaluation and feedback, and technology adoption and motivation. Burst detection indicates a growing focus on positive psychology and communication skills. Building on these results, the study suggests the Affective–Cognitive–Social Integration Model (ACSIM), which extends existing acceptance frameworks to encompass motivation, emotion, and ethics. The model bridges automation-oriented AI research with socio-affective pedagogy and informs emotionally intelligent instruction, AI literacy among teachers, and institutional practices for responsible and sustainable use.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">229-247</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Bo Zhou</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Seong Pek Lim</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Nahdia Kabir</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">P. While existing studies have examined VR in relation to language skills, learner affect, interaction, and instructional outcomes, the overall development of this research area remains insufficiently mapped. To fill this gap, this study provides a science-mapping analysis of VR-assisted English language learning from 2021 to 2025. Following a PRISMA-guided screening procedure, a total of 316 English-language journal articles were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection and analysed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. The analysis covered publication performance, citation impact, country-level distribution, co-cited references, keyword co-occurrence, and citation bursts. The results show a clear increase in research output and influence, with contributions concentrated mainly in a limited number of countries. Co-citation analysis identifies three knowledge bases: receptive learning and outcomes, oral communication and affective engagement, and immersive experience with cognitive-affective involvement. Keyword analysis further reveals themes related to educational design, immersive experience, affective factors, simulation-based instruction, and learner engagement. Burst detection indicates a recent shift toward instruction, acquisition, teachers, and learner perceptions. Overall, the study contributes to the field by clarifying both the intellectual structure and the changing priorities of research on VR-assisted English language learning. It also advances current understanding by showing that VR-assisted English learning is increasingly framed not simply as a novel technological application, but as a pedagogically mediated and context-dependent learning environment.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">4</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">699-715</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Trinh Thi Phuong Thao</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Do Bao Chau</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Le Thi Diem Quynh</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Nguyen Thuy Phuong Tram</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Nguyen Truong Giang</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">RESEARCH TRENDS ON DIGITAL LITERACY IN HIGH SCHOOLS: INSIGHTS DERIVED FROM SCOPUS DATABASE (2007 – 2024)</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">bibliometric analysis</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">digital literacy</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">educational technology</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">high school education</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Scopus database</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2026</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">February/2026</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">https://journals.indexcopernicus.com/search/article?articleId=4771007</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">84</style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">continuous</style></pages><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">In response to the increasing importance of digital literacy in secondary education, this study presents a bibliometric analysis of research on digital literacy in high schools published between 2007 and 2024. Based on 187 peer-reviewed documents indexed in the Scopus database, the study employs Biblioshiny and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, influential authors, leading institutions, primary publication sources, and thematic developments within the field. The results indicate a clear upward trend in scholarly output, with an average annual growth rate of 23.86% and a marked increase during the COVID-19 pandemic. This period appears to have intensified academic attention to digital learning and digital competencies. Although the United States and Indonesia account for the highest number of publications, countries such as Italy, Australia, and Canada show higher citation impact, suggesting differences between research productivity and scholarly influence. Thematic mapping highlights dominant research foci on digital competence, online learning, and media literacy, while areas such as computational thinking, identity formation, and robotics remain comparatively underexplored. Overall, the study outlines the evolving intellectual landscape of digital literacy research in high schools and points to several gaps that may inform more focused and methodologically diverse future research in increasingly digitalized educational settings.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">207-228</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">İrem Demir</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Cem Oktay Güzeller</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">TEACHER PERFORMANCE: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS AND SYSTEMATIC REVIEW</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">bibliometric analysis</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">educational administration</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">systematic review</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">teacher performance</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2026</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">February/2026</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">https://journals.indexcopernicus.com/search/article?articleId=4770997</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">84</style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">continuous</style></pages><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Teacher performance plays a decisive role in educational quality and student achievement. Despite extensive research, the literature remains fragmented across leadership models, organisational conditions, and individual psychological factors. This fragmentation limits theoretical integration and weakens the contribution of research to educational administration and policy. The aim of this study was to provide a comprehensive and integrated understanding of teacher performance from an educational administration perspective by combining bibliometric mapping and systematic review. The study employed a two-stage research design in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. First, a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection was conducted to map publication trends, influential journals and authors, and dominant conceptual themes in teacher performance research. Second, a systematic review critically synthesised 27 empirical studies by examining research designs, key variables, empirical findings, and administrative implications. The synthesis focused on cross-study patterns rather than single-study descriptions. The results indicate that teacher performance is a multidimensional construct shaped not only by individual factors such as motivation and self-efficacy but also, and more strongly, by leadership styles, organisational climate, evaluation systems, and policy contexts. Transformational and participatory leadership models, supportive school climates, and development-oriented evaluation systems are consistently associated with higher teacher performance. In contrast, rigid administrative structures and misaligned evaluation practices constrain professional growth. The study is significant because it links the intellectual structure of the field with empirical evidence and offers actionable insights for educational administrators and policymakers seeking to enhance sustainable teacher effectiveness.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">75-100</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Constantino, R.W. Using data from the Scopus database and visualization tools such as VOSviewer, the study explores publication trends, intellectual structures, thematic patterns, and the evolution of research priorities over time. Results reveal a marked increase in scholarly output post-2010, peaking in 2024, coinciding with national education reforms, the COVID-19 pandemic, and advances in digital learning. The citation analysis shows a parallel rise in research impact, indicating increasing academic engagement and visibility. Co-citation mapping identifies two core intellectual traditions: empirical, data-driven methodologies centered on assessment and benchmarking, and constructivist learning theories grounded in pedagogical foundations. Keyword co-occurrence analysis yielded five thematic clusters: engineering education and development, student learning in digital environments, pedagogy and teacher preparation, emerging technologies in STEM, and instructional design systems. The overlay visualization underscores a clear thematic evolution from foundational teaching and curriculum concerns toward digital transformation, AI integration, and learner-centered innovation. The study further highlights the underrepresentation of regional State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), underscoring the need for more inclusive and decentralized research development. The findings suggest that STEM education research in the Philippines is transitioning into a mature, future-ready domain, increasingly responsive to both global trends and localized educational needs.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">5</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">626-644</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Minh Tuan Nguyen</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Nguyen Quang Duy Vu</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Hoai Thu Nguyen</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Vu, T. The cultural ties that values education has due to its nature are also reflected in the studies carried out. Based on the necessity of determining the trend of values education studies in the world, this research aims to bring a bibliometric view to the field. For this purpose, 256 articles indexed in Web of Science from 2005 to 2021 were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the distribution of the articles by years and journals, the prominent articles, authors, institutions, and the links between them were mapped. It has been observed that the journal &quot;Educational Sciences in Theory and Practice&quot; stands out in terms of the number of documents in the journals, and the journal &quot;Teaching and Teacher Education&quot; ranks first in terms of the number of citations it receives. The most influential authors are Thornberg, R., Lovat, T., and Clement, N. Among the countries, it has been determined that Australia ranks first in terms of both the number of documents and the number of citations it receives. The expression “values education” is the most preferred keyword. It was followed by the words “values” and “moral education”. It has been observed that the cooperation networks between the authors, institutions and countries are weak. </style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">27-43</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Orfa Nidia Patiño Toro</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Yesenia Acevedo Correa</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Alejandro Valencia-Arias</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Martha Benjumea-Arias</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE IN EDUCATIONAL CONTEXTS</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">bibliometric analysis</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">information technology</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">open source software</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">research trends</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">technology adoption</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2020</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">February/2020</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">http://oaji.net/articles/2020/457-1581495058.pdf</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">78</style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Continuous</style></pages><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Open source software has now become a significant alternative in meeting different needs in business, government and academic environments, such as needs related to economics, management, learning and innovation, among others. The purpose of this research was to examine the research trends and evolution of the field of open source software adoption between 2001 and 2019. The methodology used involved bibliometric analysis of 289 documents obtained through a Scopus extracted search equation, generating indicators of quantity and quality and analyzing the emerging themes in said field of knowledge. The findings of the research include the existence of a strong trend towards research and dissemination regarding open source software, particularly in countries such as the United States, whose institutions and authors demonstrate high levels of productivity and dissemination. There was also evidence of an interest in reducing barriers and encouraging the adoption and implementation of the software in other sectors where its use is still lagging behind. The main conclusion of the research is that the research of open source software adoption focuses on the following topics: innovation, Linux, FLOSS, engineering requirements, risk management, open innovation, the public sector, social network analysis and total cost of ownership. </style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">114-128</style></section></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="7.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>17</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Alejandro Valencia-Arias</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Laura Duque Cano</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Diana Arango-Botero</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">TRENDS IN THE M-LEARNING SUBJECT AREA OVER A 15-YEAR PERIOD (2002-2017) USING SCOPUS</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Problems of Education in the 21st Century</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">bibliometric analysis</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">high education</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">mobile learning</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">research trends</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2019</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">April/2019</style></date></pub-dates></dates><urls><web-urls><url><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">http://oaji.net/articles/2019/457-1556864001.pdf</style></url></web-urls></urls><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">77</style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Continuous</style></pages><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">The current social dynamics perceive education as an impeller of social and economic change. However, there are problems of coverage, relevance and methodology in the educational process, mainly in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Recently, tools have emerged that adopt and appropriate ICTS in learning processes, such as mobile learning, which seeks to meet the requirements of mobility, accessibility and interactivity that traditional teaching mechanisms have not covered satisfactorily. Based on the necessity to identify the factors that drive the adoption of mobile learning by different HEIs, this research identifies the factors that encourage the adoption of mobile learning in the institutions. For this, results of an exercise of technological surveillance in indexed database (Scopus) were analyzed by means of scientometric indicators. Some of the most significant factors detected are: preparation of the professor, perceptions and attitudes of students, technological culture, and technological environment that leverages new learning models. </style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Original article</style></work-type><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">292-306</style></section></record></records></xml>
